A Bit About Us

Funchal, Madeira

Our first port, arriving at 8:00 AM, and it was still dark.  Beautiful weather today for exploring on a city bus.  Glee our amazing tour guide and  fellow passenger, found the bus to take us along the Cabo Girao to the  Camara de Labos a fishing village were Churchill spent twelve days in 1950, with his wife Clementine, painting. A bit surprised at the many acres of terraces with banana trees.  After our bus back we walked a bit, saw the market and enjoyed the street scenes.  Walking back to the ship Ricardo offered us a tour in his tuk tuk with a drop off at the ship at the end of the hour.  We saw two forts, Sao Joa Baptista do Pico and then Sao Tiago and putted through the warren of city streets, some so narrow with one lane of traffic. We finished our day on Madeira, an island off Portugal, with good memories. Funchal is inhabited with only 100,000 people, with some 200,000 on the island.  A one bedroom, one bath condo will be 400,000 euro.  Back to the ship and had a cup of PG tips.  We so enjoy cruising, traveling at night, waking to a new port to explore and back to our “home” for two more months.
